MyCiTi Airport route to resume on 1 November 2021
30 October 2021
The City of Cape Town is pleased to announce that the MyCiTi Airport route will resume operations on 1 November 2021, ahead of the festive season when we expect more visitors from other parts of the country and abroad.
The MyCiTi Airport route provides travellers with an affordable and convenient direct service between the Cape Town International Airport and the Cape Town central business district.
This route was suspended in March 2020 due to the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic and the subsequent restrictions on movement and travel.
‘We anticipate that local visitors and tourists from around the world will start travelling to Cape Town again now that life is gradually returning to normal and people can move around more freely. The MyCiTi Airport route is an ideal option for getting to the CBD from where visitors can seamlessly transfer to other MyCiTi routes that service other parts of Cape Town. It will be a delight to see these buses back on the road as it will signal that we are on track to economic recovery,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Transport, Councillor Rob Quintas.
The buses will depart every 30 minutes from the Civic Centre and the Airport MyCiTi stations, between 05:00 and 21:30 on weekdays and between 06:00 and 21:30 on weekends.
‘The MyCiTi station is right outside the Airport terminal building, which makes it easy and convenient whether you are arriving or departing,’ said Councillor Quintas.
Commuters need a myconnect card loaded with Mover points to travel on the service. Regular passengers such as those working at the Airport can get a Monthly Pass for R790 while frequent flyers can choose from Day Passes valid for one, three or seven days.
The MyCiTi app (Download our app) is great for planning trips and getting live updates for bus arrivals.
Commuters are advised to always wear a mask that covers the nose and mouth, to wash or sanitise hands regularly and to keep a safe distance.
